The 2024 Edition of the Rust programming language is coming out next year, and the Rust Foundation has just finalized the list of features that it will add. Included are:
- Zero Cost Paycheck: As part of the zero cost abstractions that Rust already offers, the compiler will accept your paycheck for doing all your work for you.
- Go Transpiler: The compiler can translate your code into an identical Go program and then publish benchmarks about how slow it is.
- C Memory Safety: The compiler can automatically eliminate any memory safety issues in your C programs by running the command "rm *.c".
- Rust In The Kernel: Everyone has been looking forward to Rust in the Linux Kernel for increased reliability. The Rust Foundation is doing everything they can to expedite this process, most notably by kidnapping Linus Torvalds' family until he rewrites all of Linux in Rust.
- Outreach: The compiler will automatically tell all your "friends" about Rust so you don't have to anymore.
